Pinterest vs. Google SEO: My 37% Traffic Surge Revealed!
During the last 30 days, my traffic from Pinterest has increased by 37%.
Most importantly my blog is getting way more clicks from Pinterest than the mighty Google.
Before I move forward with the top reasons why Pinterest marketing is way better than Google SEO…
Let me quickly share my blogging journey…

I started my blog back in March 2021 and my main focus was to get organic traffic from Google and YouTube.
I started to see some really quick results as expected.
My blog was getting decent organic traffic from Google even after publishing just a handful of blog posts (5 to 10 posts I guess, can’t remember the exact number).
Seeing the encouraging results I kept posting new blog posts every single month.
Long story short, my blog was getting on average 300+ clicks from Google every single day. I applied for Ezoic and got approved.

My main monetization was affiliate marketing and Ezoic ads. With these two monetization methods, I was earning between $800 and 1,000 per month.
I know this number is not that great but because I was spending nothing on paid traffic it is a pretty decent monthly profit.
Then came the Google Helpful Content Update 2022. Luckily, my blog made a quick come back and the same happened in April 2024…
Traffic went down and recovered slowly on its own!
But..
Last year’s (Sep 2023) Google’s helpful content update seems to be a more damaging one…as it has crashed almost 90% of my blog traffic and revenue!!
At the moment my blog traffic from Google is down to 40 clicks per day. But on the other hand, my Pinterest traffic has been increasing slowly and steadily.
When I Started Pinning on Pinterest?
I started creating Pinterest pins from the very beginning but I wasn’t consistent with my pinning strategy.
I was pinning here and there and getting some clicks to some of my blog posts. But after my site got hit by the Google update, I switched my focus to Pinterest.
Even though I haven’t created that many pins during the last 30 days I can still see a decent increase in my engaged audience, pins saves, and outbound clicks.
I had been seeing many people getting decent traffic from Pinterest and making multiple four figures from their blog just pinning on Pinterest.
I have included Pinterest in my list of main traffic sources and will continue using this for at least one year.
Why do I think Pinterest is Better Than Google?

The number one reason I think Pinterest is better than Google is, that you can post a single article or piece of content multiple times.
You can create 3 to 5 different pins for the same blog post and pin them strategically on relevant Pinterest boards.
This increases the odds of your content being seen by more people.
There are many other reasons why Pinterest can be a better source of getting organic visitors to a blog.
According to Similarweb pinterss is the number 28 most visited site worldwide.
Its country rank in the US is 25 and its category rank is 8.
As you can see in the screenshot below, Pinterest got 1.2 Billion visits during the last month with an average visit duration of 05:51 minutes which is insane.

I have listed a few most important ones below;
- Pinterest has visual appeal and a social sharing element
- 37.7% of the Pinterest audience comes from the USA
- You can get a lot of clicks from a single pin
- You can join relevant group boards that increase your reach
- You can repin that same pin again to a different board
- They have fewer algorithm updates as compared to Google
These are some of the main reasons why Pinterest is better than Google.
Keeping this in mind, I have planned to at least one new pin per day.
Common Sense
Just like Google penalizes the sites and de-ranks them, Pinterest can ban your account altogether if found violating their terms of service and content guidelines.
You need to strictly follow their terms and conditions to keep harvesting these benefits.
My Pinterest Strategy
I create visually appealing pins and most of them are vertical ones with 1000 x 1500 pixels.
I also create tall pins with the dimensions of 1000 x 21000 pixels.
I follow strategies from a famous Pinterest course known as Pinterest Traffic Avalanche.
The creators of the course are successful bloggers earning multiple 5 figures from their blogs with Pinterest being their main traffic source.

I found the course helpful and I am seeing the results already. However, you need to put in the work first to see real results.
Enrolling in any Pinterest course alone won’t help you at all unless you follow the steps and take action.
Conclusion
To recap, I believe Pinterest is better than Google for driving traffic to a blog because it has visual appeal and a social sharing element.
Most importantly Pinterest has fewer algorithm updates than Google.
Pinterest allows you to post the same content multiple times with different pin images. Ideally, you can create 3 to 5 different-looking pin images and post them on Pinterest at intervals.
I have recently started pinning regularly and I will be creating at least one pin per day.
And…
I will be sharing my experience with you in future blog posts as well.
Thanks for reading this til the very end.
See you in the next one!
